Probably the most frequently asked question we get is, what
is the best pillow to sleep on? Before we can answer that you have to understand
your sleep pattern. are you a belly-sleeper, back-sleeper, side-sleeper? Each sleep position
needs a different pillow.
Frankly there is no perfect pillow for the belly sleeper. A
smaller softer pillow should be best for a belly-sleeper. The Casper Down
pillow is a highly rated pillow for stomach sleepers.
Side-sleepers need a pillow that makes your head and spine
neutral to the bed. It shouldn’t be too thick or thin. It should support your
head and make you as neutral to the bed as possible. So size and firmness are key. A larger patient will need a larger firmer pillow, a smaller patient
will utilize a thinner pillow. Goose down pillows are awesome for side-sleepers. If you have allergies to Goose down the "Leesa Hybrid" is a highly
rated pillow for side sleepers, just make sure you get the pillow that fits
your body, not to thin or thick.
Back-sleepers need a pillow that supports the cervical
spines natural curve. There are many pillows out there for this sleeper. We prefer the
Tri-core pillow by Core products. It comes in several different sizes and is
available on-line. The pillow cost about $35. A great investment.
The next question is what bed is best? The simplest
answer is comfortable firm. I sleep on a latex foam mattress. It is basically
just a big chunk of foam. It looks like a regular mattress. The mattress is heavy firm, they last a long time. Most manufacturers make latex mattresses. My suggestion is
to go to a mattress store and lay on a latex foam mattress for ten minutes and
see if you like it.
Rolla MO has several good mattress and bedding stores, Sleep
Ezz, Paul’s Furniture to name a few. Cuba MO has a great mattress store as well, BoxDrop, Employees of these stores are more than willing to walk you
through several bedding options. Make sure you lay on a bed before you buy a
